The Hunter and The Shepherdess (One Cold Morning)
One cold morning
I went out to hunt.
I cannot find any prey
That I could shoot at all!
If love shoots me and hits me,
If it shoots me, it will hit me hard!
There's a lovely shepherdess
Who was watching over the cattle.
I found her asleep
Under the olive grove.
Because she was so pretty,
I didn't dare to wake her up
I gathered violets in a bouquet
And placed it upon her breast.
If love shoots me and hits me,
If it shoots me, it will hit me hard!
[Instrumental]
The violets were fresh,
The young maiden awakened.
'What are you doing here, young man?
What are you seeking to find in here?'
Your love, oh young damsel,
If only you wanted to give it to me?
'Ask my father for it,
As well as my brother!'
If love shoots me and hits me,
If it shoots me, it will hit me hard!
[Instrumental]
'As my lord uncle decides,
My lord uncle the priest
If he gives you my hand in marriage,
It shall be gladly given!'
If love shoots me and hits me,
If it shoots me, it will hit me hard!
If love shoots me and hits me,
If it shoots me, it will hit me hard!
